Closure Project - Nevada Sleeper Mine
The objective of this project was to create a plan that would address the drainage issuing from the remaining mine facilities at an inactive gold mine. The project strategy included development of a final permanent closure plan and the renewal of a water pollution control permit. A closure design was created that resulted in the effective elimination and management of short-term and long-term drainage from all of the facilities. Chemical treatment was not needed to meet discharge standards and no solution was discharged.
